ACT motorists needing lifetime care as a result of a catastrophic injury now have the opportunity to access a scheme targeted at providing long-term care and support. Further information about the scheme can be accessed on the Lifetime Care and Support Scheme website.
As of 1 July 2015, the fees collected for the Road Safety Contribution will support the ACT Road Safety Fund. The ACT Road Safety Fund funds projects and initiatives related to road safety research and education and road trauma prevention, in support of the ACT Government’s identified road safety strategy. The fee is $2.50 per 12 month registration.
The former NRMA-ACT Road Safety Trust was established in 1992, with the principal objective of enhancing road safety for the benefit of the ACT road-using community. The Trust allocated over $20 million to approximately 340 innovative road safety projects between 1992 and 2009.
The road rescue fee is used to assist funding of the road rescue services in the ACT such as the ambulance and fire brigade services.
